Editor’s Picks: July

Summer is in full swing and our bathroom cabinets are reflecting the season—think dewy skin, foolproof grooming tools and plump, hydrated lips. This month, we’ve swatched, spritzed and slathered our way through the latest launches to bring you our top six lightweight faves for the sunny days ahead 😎

My undereyes are dry af.

I’m always looking for hydrating lotions and potions to banish parched skin and this eye serum is one of the best I’ve discovered yet. It’s full of brightening niacinamide and vitamin C along with caffeine to de-puff, which alone would sell me on the formula. Add into the mix the very cool (literally) applicator with a 360° roller and it’s officially a new staple.

This ain’t your average lip balm!

First off, the silver tubes scream quiet luxury and the miniature size is downright irresistible. But the goop inside is where the real magic is. The balm texture, a mix of Brazilian açai and African mongongo butters, glides onto lips, feeling extremely plush and plumping. The formula also contains hibiscus enzymes and lactic acid that helps to gently exfoliate for a smoothing effect. Among the trio of universal shades I’ve been wearing Bissap Glaze, a reddish-purple tone, non-stop. But all three hues carry pigment payoff that hits the sweet spot of enhancing my dual-toned lips with just enough colour that looks hyper natural, and the high shine finish is very satisfying.

Blurring powders are a dime a dozen nowadays,

but this new one from Saie stands out from the pack. Available in five very sheer shades, it has the. most. gorgeous. finish. Hitting that sweet spot between not too matte and not too shiny, it gives the skin a true ‘your skin but better’ radiance. As an oily girl, I can confirm that it never cakes, even after multiple touch ups. Maybe because it’s talc-free and packed with skin-loving ingredients like hyaluronic acid and squalane?

not all grooming tools are made equal.

Obviously the playful glitter-infused handle made me want to get my hands on this razor, but putting it to work made me realize just how sub-par my previous handheld hair removal device was. This award-winning matte rubber design is way easier to grip under slippery conditions. The head, outfitted with 5 blades that slice hairs with ease and an aloe-infused moisturizing strip, leaves bits not just smoother, but softer. However, it’s the pivoting mechanism that offers the biggest assist, maneuvering curves effortlessly. Another key point: once I plonk it onto the holder on my shower wall, powerful magnets keep it secure until it’s needed - there’s no wrestling the razor into an ill-fitting cranny.

This newbie serum is a multitasker.

Created for dry and dull complexions, it nails every target to help boost radiance and quench dryness. Formulated with lactic acid, a gentle exfoliant that whisks away dead skin cells, brightening vitamin C and hydrating hyaluronic acid, it truly does it all. It’s safe for sensitive skin types and my favourite part is how it layers under makeup, creating a smoother, more plumped up base.

This is giving Quickie Brows, and that makes me very happy.

If, like me, you have sparse arches that need a dimensional boost then get thee this brow mousse. It’s perfectly tinted, depositing colour that’s not too intense, and has a lightweight (read: not tar-like) texture that’s forgiving and easy to work with, especially if you’re in a rush or frankly have no patience to line draw individual hairs. The brush is also worth raving about: it’s well-tapered which allows me to work product in with great precision. With just a few swipes my face feels done.
